Zion Episcopal Church strives to be an inclusive and joyful community of faith, seeking and serving Christ in all people, loving God and our neighbor.
We create prayer shawls/comfort shawls and lap robes for various local hospitals, most notably Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, NY and The Veteran’s Home in Montrose, NY. Many of our shawls are given to hospice patients at Phelps as well. We also send skeins of acrylic yarn to the Parish Knitting Program at The Albion Correctional Facility for Women in Albion, NY, and to The Immaculata Home (a half way home for newly released women) in Lockport, NY. Both groups create knitted items for local homeless shelters in their communities.
Membership to the Zion Crafters Guild is free and open to everyone, regardless of skill level, and knitting needles, crochet hooks and yarn are available to any who need them. Many of our crafters work from home and come to the Saturday gatherings only occasionally. Please contact Mother Mary for more information about the Guild.
Since 2020, Zion members and artists have worked with Cards for Hospitalized Kids to send handmade cards of hope to pediatric patients as well as sending these beautiful greetings to Veterans at the Veterans Home in Montrose, NY.
