Chet Matthews, of the Greater Irvington Land Trust, delivered the good news that Zion has been awarded a $500 grant to be directed toward the installation of a native “woodland garden” on the church close property, The Gardening Committee of Zion states: “We are excited by and grateful for this grant from the GILT. It will help us continue the work of planting the Zion close property with native plants for our pollinator friends. We purposefully chose to improve a barren portion of the property that abuts the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail; lending a touch of beauty for the steady stream of passersby. We’ll keep you posted on our progress; and thanks again to the Greater Irvington Land Trust for this encouraging and generous grant! Our current pollinator garden, named after deceased parishioner, Ed, filled to the brim with Joe Pye weed, goldenrod, and milkweed.
